My name is Angela Megarry. I have been working with young people of all ages in schools and churches for over 20 years. During my time as a children’s worker, I have witnessed firsthand the tragic impacts of addiction. Street puppets give children help to use their voice to say NO to Drugs and to help them with persistent peer pressure.
Street Puppets NI started eight years ago, as friends and I began to develop a creative, interactive workshop that could be delivered to a younger group of children. We wanted to concentrate on p6 and p7 before they reached secondary school.
With the help of some amazing people, street Puppets began to develop, and soon we found Primary Schools who were willing to have the workshops taught in their schools.
Each year, after feedback from the schools, we learned how to improve the workshops. We feel now that we are ready to expand and deliver to more schools, and are looking to also deliver to Year 8.
